Math MCQs

Question :    If a car is running with a speed of 90 km/h, then how much distance will it cover in 1 hour 15 minute?

Correct Answer  112.5 kilometer

Solution & Explanation

Solution

Given, speed of the car = 90 km/h

And, time = 1 hour 15 minute

= 1 hour + 15 1/ 60 4 hour

= 1 + 1/4 hour

= 1 + 0.25 hour

Thus, time = 1.25 hour

Calculation of distance using formula when speed and time are given

We know that

Distance = Speed × Time

Therefore, the distance covered by the car with the given speed and time

= 90 km/h × 1.25 hour

= 112.5 km

Thus, distance covered by the car = 112.5 km Answer

Calculation of distance using unitary method when speed and time are given

Given, speed of the car = 90 km/h

And, time = 1 hour 15 minute

= 1 hour + 15 1/ 60 4 hour

= 1 + 1/4 hour

= 1 + 0.25 hour

Thus, time = 1.25 hour

∵ In 1 hour, the distance covered by the car = 90 km

∴ In 1.25 hour, the distance covered by the car = 90 × 1.25 km

= 112.5 km

Thus, distance covered by the car = 112.5 km Answer
