Step (2) Remove the sign of percentage

Step (3) Simplify the obtained expression

Here we need to convert 40% into fraction.

1% = 40/100

Here the HCF of numerator, 40 and denominator, 100 is equal to 20. Thus we will divide the numerator and denominator of the above fraction by 20 to obtain the standard fraction.

Thus, 40/100 = 40 ÷ 20/100 ÷ 20

= 2/5

Thus, 40% = 2/5 Answer
