Question:   ( 1 of 10 )  At a certain speed a scooty covers a distance of 80 km in 4 hours. How much distance will it cover in 5 hour?

(A)  146 years and 46 years
(B)  96 years and 50 years
(C)  144 years and 75 years
(D)  192 years and 100 years

You selected   80 km

Correct Answer  100 km

Solution And Explanation

Solution

Given,

Distance = 80 km

Time = 4 hour

Thus, distance covers in 5 hour = ?

Here the speed and time are given. So, we need to find the speed to calculate the distance covers in the given time.

Method (1) Using Formula

Calculation of Speed using formula

Formula to find the speed

Speed = Distance/Time

= 80/4 = 20 km/h

Thus, speed = 20 km/h

Calculation of the distance in the given time using formula

Formula to find the distance

Distance = Speed × Time

= 20 km/h × 5 hour = 100 km

Thus, the distance covered in the given time = 100 km Answer

Method (2) Using Unitary Method

Calculation of the Distance using formula

Given,

Distance = 80 km

Time = 4 hour

Thus, distance covers in 5 hour = ?

∵ In 4 hours the distance covered = 80 km

∴ In 1 hour the distance covered = 80/4 km

∴ In 5 hours the distance covered

= 80/4 × 5 km

= 80 × 5/4 km

= 400/4 = 100 km

Thus, the distance covered in the given time = 100 km Answer
