Time and Distance
MCQs Math

Question:     Find the distance covered by a car in 20 hours if it covers a distance of 50 km in 10 hours.

Correct Answer  100 km

Solution And Explanation

Solution

Given,

Distance = 50 km

Time = 10 hour

Thus, distance covers in 20 hour = ?

Here the speed and time are given. So, we need to find the speed to calculate the distance covers in the given time.

Method (1) Using Formula

Calculation of Speed using formula

Formula to find the speed

Speed = Distance/Time

= 50/10 = 5 km/h

Thus, speed = 5 km/h

Calculation of the distance in the given time using formula

Formula to find the distance

Distance = Speed × Time

= 5 km/h × 20 hour = 100 km

Thus, the distance covered in the given time = 100 km Answer

Method (2) Using Unitary Method

Calculation of the Distance using formula

Given,

Distance = 50 km

Time = 10 hour

Thus, distance covers in 20 hour = ?

∵ In 10 hours the distance covered = 50 km

∴ In 1 hour the distance covered = 50/10 km

∴ In 20 hours the distance covered

= 50/10 × 20 km

= 50 × 20/10 km

= 1000/10 = 100 km

Thus, the distance covered in the given time = 100 km Answer
