Question:     Find the distance covered by an athlete in 25 hours if it covers a distance of 100 km in 15 hours.

Correct Answer  166.75 km

Solution And Explanation

Solution

Given,

Distance = 100 km

Time = 15 hour

Thus, distance covers in 25 hour = ?

Here the speed and time are given. So, we need to find the speed to calculate the distance covers in the given time.

Method (1) Using Formula

Calculation of Speed using formula

Formula to find the speed

Speed = Distance/Time

= 100/15 = 6.67 km/h

Thus, speed = 6.67 km/h

Calculation of the distance in the given time using formula

Formula to find the distance

Distance = Speed × Time

= 6.67 km/h × 25 hour = 166.75 km

Thus, the distance covered in the given time = 166.75 km Answer

Method (2) Using Unitary Method

Calculation of the Distance using formula

Given,

Distance = 100 km

Time = 15 hour

Thus, distance covers in 25 hour = ?

∵ In 15 hours the distance covered = 100 km

∴ In 1 hour the distance covered = 100/15 km

∴ In 25 hours the distance covered

= 100/15 × 25 km

= 100 × 25/15 km

= 2500/15 = 166.75 km

Thus, the distance covered in the given time = 166.75 km Answer
