Solution:
Step – 1- make the given word problem into expression
Given, Find 1% of 100
Here, 1% = 1/100
And ‘of’ means multiplication (X)
Therefore, given word problem can be written as

Shortcut method(1):
From above example it is clear that,
1% of 100 = 1
2% of 100 = 2
3% of 100 = 3
Similarly,
4% of 100 = 4
10% of 100 = 10
20% of 100 = 20
And so on.
In similar way,
X% of 100 = X
Y% of 100 = Y
m% of 100 = m
Shortcut method(2):
2% of 200 = 2 x 2 = 4
5% of 200 = 5 x 2 = 10
25% of 500 = 25 x 5 = 125
30% of 600 = 30 x 6 = 180
