Matrices NCERT Solutions
NCERT Exercise 3.1
Question (1) In the matrix
`A=[(2,5,19,-7),(35,-2,5/2,12),(sqrt3,1,-5,17)]`
Write (i)The order of the matrix
(ii)The number of elements
(iii) Write the elements `a_13, a_21, a_33, a_24, a_23`
Solution: Given
`A=[(2,5,19,-7),(35,-2,5/2,12),(sqrt3,1,-5,17)]`
(i) Here there is 3 rows and 4 columns hence
Order of matrix rox `xx` column `=3xx4`
(ii) Total number of element `3xx4=12`
(iii)`a_13=19,\ a_21=35,` `a_33=-5,\ a_24=12,` `a_23=5/2`
Question:2: If a matrix has 24 elements, What are the possible orders it can have? What, if it has 13 elements.
Solution:
If matrix has 24 elements then order of matrix then possible orders are
1x24, 2x12, 3x8, 4x6, 6x4, 8x3, 12x2, 24x1
Possible order of matrix; if it has 13 elements are 1x13, 13x1
Question- 3- If a matrix has 18 elements, what are the possible orders it can have? What, if it has 5 elements?
Answer – Matrix has 18 elements then
Possible orders are follows
1x18, 2x9, 3x6, 9x2, 18x1
The possible order of matrix having 5 elements are
1x5 and 5x1
