The Great Aryabhatta calculated the value of ratio of circumference and radius of a circle which is called the value of Pi correctly in his book Aryabhattiyam.

Acharya Bhaskara, a prominent Astrologer and Astronomer of the twelve century, first of all wrote six books on Mathematics, BeejGanit was one of them. From India this BeejGanit reached Arab where two books called Al-Jabar and Al-Muqabla were written. The meaning of Jabar is competition. From Arab country this BeejGanit reached the Europe where it got its name as Algebra.
